How to Use the Lead Capture App for a Third-party App on Zuddl

The lead capture app enables you to capture leads and manage interactions with them so you can efficiently convert prospects into leads and grow your business.

To use the lead capture app,

Logging in

  1. Install the app on your phone from the App Store if you use a Mac OS or Play Store for Android users.

  2. After you've installed the app, you can log in to your account. To log in, enter the email address you've used for Zuddl dashboard and click the Get verification code button to receive a 6-digit code in your inbox.

    Enter the code in the respective field to log in.

    • Alternatively, if your Zuddl account password is handy, you can also log in with a password. Enter your email address and password to log in.
  3. After logging in, you can view the ongoing third-party event under the Live tab. After the event ends, you can still view the leads under the Completed tab. In the same way, you can see all your past and upcoming events under Completed or Upcoming.

  4. Click on the live event tile to go inside the event. If no leads have been added, it will show empty list as shown below:

    If some leads have been added already, the summary page will look like this

Hot leadsThe leads you consider are really interested
Cold leadsThe leads you consider are not interested
Warm leadsThe leads you consider are somewhat interested
Unsorted leadsThe leads that you have not assigned a status
Bookmarked leadsThe leads you have bookmarked to take action later
Enrichment in progressThe number of leads for which the enrichment process is ongoing
Enrichment failedThe number of leads for which the enrichment process has failed (i.e. email address is not found).
Enriched leadsThe number of leads for which the enrichment process is successfully completed


Clicking on a particular tile takes you to the respective lead list. The lead list shows the captured leads. You can also view the bookmarked leads and enrichment details - enriched leads, enrichment failed, enrichment in-progress.

Enrichment In-progress, Enrichment failed, and Enriched leads are read-only card.


Adding leads

To add leads on the lead capture app
  1. Click on +Add leads button. This opens the scan screen to scan and start capturing.

  2. Place the badge of the prospect within the designated area to scan the entire badge.


    Adjust the scan area using the crop handles if the app doesn't automatically detect the edges.
    You can choose between scan badge or scan business card. 
    If email address is present on the business card, the app will automatically map and display it on the respective fields.
  3. Once you've scanned the badge/card and are satisfied with the capture, click on the Continue button at the bottom. Zuddl app recognizes text strings on the badge and shows it to you on the edit details page under Scanned text textbox for adding details quickly and conveniently. 


    Entering manually
    You also have the option of entering lead details such as First name, Last name, Email, Company, Phone number, and Title manually. 


    The mandatory fields are: First name, Last name, and Email. (If you don't have access to email, you must enter the Company in order for the app to run the enrichment.)

    Retry scan
    You can retry capturing the badge by clicking the Retry scan button. This option also appears when no card is detected by the app while scanning.


  4. Next on the lead details page, the app captures the text from the badges and presents it as a text in the Scanned text text box. You can use utilize this to add details manually if required. The app maps the captured text to corresponding fields on the lead details page, such as first name, last name, company etc. The enrichment process utilizes the captured details to enrich the email id of the lead.

  5. Next is the enrichment of lead. 

Enrichment of leads

Often event badges displays only first name, last name, and in some cases title or company name. But in order for you to successfully capture a lead, you require details such email address or phone number.

Zuddl's enrichment functionality feeds on the scanned badge content and tries to fetch accurate contact information of the lead.


How it works?

The enrichment process utilizes the captured details such as first name or last name on the badge and fetches missing details such as, email address and phone number. The enrichment process begins (Enrichment in-progress) right after the scan and is usually completed (Enrichment complete) in less than a minute. However, the time taken for the enrichment process to complete may vary for each lead profile. 

On the edit details, wait for the enrichment to complete.

Enrichment completion

Enrichment completion can either result in a successful enrichment or enrichment failure.

On succcessful enrichment

When the enrichment is complete and successful, a pop-up asks confirmation to auto-update the empty lead fields.

  1. Click the OK button to accept the enriched data.

    Only the empty/ blank fields are updated. Any field that is manually entered is not overwritten by the enriched data and stays as is.

  2. Click click Save and qualify lead button to move to the qualify lead screen. Learn how to qualify a lead. 
    You cannot proceed to qualify the lead with just the email address, you would need to add the First Name and Last Name as well.
  3. You can also click the Save and scan next button to save the lead without qualifying and scan the next badge. This takes you back to scan screen.  

Use Save and scan next button if you have a bunch of badges to scan.

On enrichment failure

If enrichment has failed, the organizer can choose to enter the details manually or keep it as is and the enrichment state would be in the failed state.

In case of enrichment failure, the email fields is highlighted in red as shown below: 


Edit lead details manually

You can manually enter details for the incomplete fields in case the enrichment process takes longer for a lead or in an unlikely event of enrichment failure.  

To enter fields manually, simply copy the scanned text strings inside the Scanned text textbox and copy to their respective fields.

Clicking on the back button discards saving the lead.

Qualify a lead

A qualified lead is someone who has shown interest in the product or services you offer and you consider them more than just a mere lead as they are more likely to buy than other leads. The enrichment would still be happening in the background even when you move to the qualify lead screen.
You can qualify a lead even when the lead profile is incomplete and enrichment in progress.
  1. On the qualify lead screen, take further actions on the lead

    1. Edit profile: Click the Edit profile link to update the lead's profile details  

    2. Profile picture: This is non-editable and is usually the initials of users first name and last name. If no first name and last name is available. The profile pic on the qualify lead screen looks like this:

      The scanned text field is also shown along with the profile till the enrichment is complete. This helps you get some information about the lead.  

    3. Add as bookmark: You can add the lead as a bookmark to action on the lead later.

    4. Change Status: You can add/update the status. The available statuses are: Hot, Cold, and Warm

    5. Add a Rating: Give a rating to the lead out of 5 stars.

    6. Edit custom question: Update a question if required

    7. Edit Address: Update the address if required.

    8. Add Notes: Add a note if required.

    9. Schedule a meeting: If you have has added a meeting link of your choice(Calendly, Google calendar, etc) which opens up in a webview.

      You can select an suitable date to schedule a meeting with lead. 

  2. Click the Save button.

Offline usage

In case you face an internet disruption, enrichment will be paused till the network is restored and any enriched data will be only available when you are back online. However, you can still perform the following functions

  • Scan badges with text capture
  • Add lead details offline
  • Edit details on the qualify lead screen
  • Export leads


Viewing the leads

Inside each event, you can view the lead list along with the enrichment status for each lead is shown.


The leads with failed, in progress, and yet to sync are shown with a label but the enriched leads appear without any status.
Points to note:
- When you click on a enriched lead, the qualify lead screen is shown but when you click any other lead, the lead details page is shown. 

- You can edit the lead at any enrichment state.
If name, email, company is edited and enrichment state is pending or failed we are enriching again.
