How to Add a File Upload Field in the Registration Flow Builder
Last updated: July 14, 2026
This guide explains how organizers can add a file upload field to their registration flow, allowing attendees to upload documents or images (such as ID proofs, resumes, or certificates) as part of the registration process.
Note: The file upload field is available across all event types — virtual, hybrid, and in-person.
Supported file types and limits
Allowed formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, PDF
File size: Configurable between 1 MB and 10 MB per field
Files per field: One file per upload field (add multiple fields if you need more uploads)
How to add a file upload field
Navigate to your event and open Registration > Flow.
In the Flow Builder, add or select a Form step.
Click Add Field and choose File Upload from the field type options.
Configure the field:
Field label: Enter a label that tells attendees what to upload (e.g., "Upload your ID proof").
Description: Optionally add helper text visible to attendees.
Required: Toggle on if attendees must upload a file to complete registration.
Allowed file types: Select one or more formats — JPG, JPEG, PNG, PDF.
Maximum file size: Choose a limit between 1 MB and 10 MB.
Save and publish the flow to make the upload field live.
Attendee experience
When attendees reach the form step during registration, they will see the file upload field with the allowed formats and size limit displayed. Attendees can:
Drag and drop a file into the upload zone, or click Browse to select a file from their device.
See a progress bar while the file uploads.
View the uploaded file name with a checkmark once the upload is successful.
Re-upload a different file using the menu button on the uploaded file, if needed before submitting.
Tip: If an attendee selects an unsupported file type or exceeds the size limit, they will see a clear error message and can retry with a valid file.
How organizers can access uploaded files
After attendees submit their registration, organizers can download the uploaded files:
Go to Registration > Manage Registrations in your event dashboard.
Locate the attendee's registration record.
Click to view the registration details — the uploaded file will be available as a downloadable link.
File verification
Uploaded files go through an automatic verification process:
Files start in a Pending state after submission.
The system verifies that the actual file content matches the declared file type and that the file size is within the configured limit.
Once verified, the file status updates to Verified. If verification fails, the status is marked as Failed.
Warning: The upload link expires after 5 minutes. If an attendee takes longer than 5 minutes on the form step without uploading, they may need to refresh the page to get a new upload link.
Event series behavior
For event series, verified file uploads from the parent event registration are automatically synced to child event registrations.
