Speaker Profile Data: What Changes Where
Last updated: April 17, 2026
This guide explains how speaker information is managed across the platform and what gets updated when either a speaker or organizer makes changes.
Two Types of Speaker Data
There are two distinct types of speaker information in the system:
1. Personal Profile (Speaker-controlled)
This is the speaker’s own profile used for interaction, networking, and in-app and virtual side experiences.
2. Official Speaker Details (Organizer-controlled)
This represents the speaker’s public-facing information used in event content like agenda, directories, and onsite tools.
How Edits Work
When a Speaker Edits Their Profile
Depending on where the edit is made, the impact differs:
1. Editing from the App or Virtual Profile
Changes here only affect the speaker’s personal profile.
These updates will reflect in:
Networking and connections
Messaging and inbox
Meeting-related features
Activity feeds
Gamification
Notifications
Session engagement (chat, Q&A etc)
Their in-app profile
These changes do not affect how the speaker appears in official event listings like the agenda or speaker or sponsor directory and widgets.
2. Editing from the Speaker Portal
Changes made here update both:
Personal profile
Official speaker details
This is the only place where a speaker can update information that appears publicly in event content.
3. When an Organizer Edits Speaker Information
Organizer changes only affect official speaker details.
These updates will reflect in:
Event schedule
Speaker directory
Sponsor directory (if applicable)
Speaker widgets
Onsite check-in systems
Lead capture tools
These changes do not impact the speaker’s personal profile used for networking, messaging, app and virtual profile.
4. When an Attendee is Upgraded to a Speaker
A new official speaker profile is created for event-related usage.
The existing attendee profile remains unchanged for personal interactions.
